Dragon - Jenny Waynest by Nashiil Dragon - Jenny Waynest by Nashiil
My end of an Art Trade with :iconizreal-foofuraw:
The dragon is Jenny Waynest, from the book 'Dragonsbane', after her transformation. It is modeled heavily on the book's cover art and Aversin's sketch.

Yes, the entire picture is made up of tiny dots.

***Jenny Waynest (c) Barbra Hambly

Materials: copy paper, colored pencils, .005 mm Micron pen

Are you insane? Or just insanely patient? Because this must've taken forever!

Beau-ta-ful! I love her. I agree the sketch in the first book was a lot of help, the text was valuable too. I am jealous you managed a good background in addition to a kick butt pic. Well worth the wait!

Thank you! It's funny how I never do backgrounds because I don't have the patience for them, then I decide to do one. I'm glad you like it!

Thats why I don't do scratchboard often... but of course I then I torcher myself by doing a large scrimshaw project which is just as bad. (Sorry about my spelling...)

Dots do look amazing though.

Thanks!
I do the same thing too. I put off doing smaller pieces becuause scratchboard and stippling are tedious, then I go and do something huge and detailed. At least I know I'm not the only one! XD

My scratchboard is crappy quality so I have to use an exacto knife to do it...it messes up my right ring finger terribly and I get hand cramps. Scrimshaw gives me that hand cramps but dosen't hurt my ring finger. But I do know what you mean by tedious...uggg...The bad thing with scrimshaw however is doing small stuff for jewrey it is murder on your hands more so than normal.

I prefer an exact-o knife because it was the only tool we were allowed in art class for scratchboard. However, I do hate the way your fingers get sore from gripping the rough metal part near the blade.
